Requirements for the Certificate in Biology

• BI 221Z - Principles of Biology: Cells 5 credits (4 or 5 credits required)
• BI 223Z - Principles of Biology: Ecology and Evolution 5 credits (4 or 5 credits required)
• BI 222Z - Principles of Biology: Organisms 5 credits (4 or 5 credits required)
• Select a minimum of 4 courses with a total of at least 15 credits from any regularly scheduled 300- or 400-level biology course that counts toward the biology major. The following courses may not be used to fulfill this requirement: BI 330 , BI 364L-366L, BI 380-389, BI 401-405, BI 409 , BI 489 , BI 490 . A maximum of 3 credits from BI 407  and BI 408   may be applied to this requirement.  Only 1 credit may be from BI 407 . In addition, 4 credits of Biochemistry may be applied to this requirement. For the purposes of this 4 course requirement, BI 451  and BI 451L  count as one course.

• Students must have a minimum 2.0 GPA in biology courses and all courses taken for the certificate must be graded A-F.
