The Health and Exercise Science program prepares students for occupations or graduate studies in exercise and sports science, health education and promotion, and health and physical education teacher certification through an MAT program. The curriculum provides students with a foundation in health education promotion for individuals and communities as well as comprehensive offerings in exercise and sports science. In addition to completing a core area of study, students must choose a concentration in one of the following: Health Education and Promotion; Human Performance; Clinical Exercise Science, or Health and Physical Education Teacher Education.
To earn a BA or BS in Health and Exercise Science, students must have an overall 2.5 GPA in all major courses.
Program Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of a BA/BS in Health and Exercise Science, graduates will be able to:
- Evaluate movement patterns of major articulations of the human body, incorporating osteokinematics of those articulations and major muscles responsible for those osteokinematic movements.
- Effectively communicate orally as well as through written Standard American English.
- Model and maintain professional, ethical, standards in individual practice, conduct and citizenship, especially as related to the diverse populations associated with the discipline of Health and Exercise Science.
- Implement EDI terminology as it relates to the Health and Exercise Science fields.
