The Certificate in Applied Statistics prepares students with necessary foundations of statistical methods that are essential in modern statistical sciences. Through this program, students will build necessary mathematical and computational skills over various disciplinary fields. Significant statistical programming skills will be introduced.

Certificate in Applied Statistics

35-36 credits for non-math majors, 39-40 credits for math majors (Math, Financial Math, and Math-CS)

Students must meet all applicable requirements below with a grade C- or above.

Introductory Statistics Course:

Calculus Sequence:
MTH 251z - Differential Calculus 4 credits
MTH 252z - Integral Calculus 4 credits
Linear Algebra:
MTH 261 - Linear Algebra 4 credits
Statistical Sequence:
MTH 361 - Statistical Methods I 4 credits
MTH 461 - Statistical Methods II 4 credits each

Choose one from the following:

CS 256 - Computer Science I 4 credits
CH 375 - Computational Methods for Scientists 3 credits
MTH 343 - Applied Statistics 4 credits
Or an approved course
